Fastcharge Opens New Heavy-Duty Charging Station at Rudshøgda – A Key Step in the ‘Heavy Transport Shift’
Ringsaker, 15 May 2025
On Thursday, 15 May, Fastcharge invites you to the opening of a new high-power charging station for electric trucks at the Rudshøgda rest area – a concrete demonstration that the green shift in heavy transport is now happening in practice.
The station consists of six dedicated 400 kW charging points and is designed to enable drivers to charge their vehicles while taking their mandatory rest.
With this, Fastcharge takes a clear position in Norway’s national “Heavy Transport Shift,” focused on turning political ambitions into real-world action.
“A prerequisite for electric long-haul transport is being able to charge while the driver takes their mandatory rest period,” says Marius Råstad, Corporate Logistics Manager at ASKO. He stresses the need for infrastructure that supports operations—not just symbolic measures.
The Rudshøgda rest area is well-known for its facilities for professional drivers, offering showers, toilets, power outlets, WiFi, and a lounge area—along with immediate proximity to the restaurant Rudshøgda Kro. With Fastcharge now in place, drivers can “charge both body and vehicle,” as landowner and local business operator Per Hatterud puts it:
— “Rudshøgda – the rest area you leave with a smile. We charge both body and vehicle.”

The opening on 15 May marks more than just a new charging station. It is a celebration of progress. The program includes professional talks from local contributors and key players in transport and business, demonstrations of electric trucks from companies such as Litra, Hagens Transport, and Ruud Transport, and a social gathering with refreshments. The theme for the day is:
“The Heavy Transport Shift – From Political Ambition to Practical Implementation.”
— “While many are still debating what has to come first—the chicken or the egg—we’ve decided to lay the egg,” says Paal Berg, CMO of Fastcharge. “We build so that you can operate. Rudshøgda is a natural starting point. This is how we move the industry forward—not with words, but with action.”
The station is a visible and concrete example of Norway’s national investment, where the Government has allocated NOK 3.7 billion to the “Heavy Vehicle Package” for building charging infrastructure and rest areas across the country. Rudshøgda represents a model for what this effort can look like in practice—through collaboration between technology providers, local businesses, and the transport sector.

About Fastcharge
Fastcharge is currently one of the few players in the market offering dedicated high-power chargers exclusively for electric trucks—without sharing with passenger vehicles, without the need for reversing, and with high energy efficiency throughout the charging session.
With six liquid-cooled charging points and infrastructure adapted for modular road trains, Rudshøgda sets a new standard for heavy-vehicle charging. The station is part of a growing network that already includes Alnabru in Oslo and will continue to expand in the coming years—aiming to electrify heavy transport along Norway’s most important freight corridors.
